PHILOSOPHY + INSPIRATION

The Sri Louise swimwear collection is a reflection of the designer’s travels between Australia and Bali, and her two homes: Cairns and Kuta. Her unique and personal pieces are created from sparks of imagination triggered by waterfall adventures and local flora and fauna. These inspired prints emulate the beauty of Mother Nature in their vivid colour schemes and naturally-formed patterns. Sri’s inspiration also extends from Balinese culture, which has given her an insight to another world: the costumes, offerings, and Hindu customs offer an experience that is indescribable, and should be experienced by oneself in order to understand the feeling.

These prints represent a time that reflects my life: both at its best and worst. Creating a piece out of love that expresses the way I feel… Wearing a piece that makes you feel comfortable and alive... These are threads of iconography. - Sri Stormont

Furthermore, the Sri Louise logo has been designed to embody the philosophy and spirit of the brand:

The two women positioned in a forearm-stand and holding the moon together with their feet represents the balance and strength of sisterhood: both mentally and physically. The moon represents womanhood and the menstrual cycle, which allows us to bring life into the world. The water flowing from the mouth of the moon into the hair of the women represents the flow of a waterfall, projecting the calm notions and natural highs that sooth, excite, and encourage us to seek new adventures and journeys. The waterfall colours represent sunrise and sunset, and the encasing coconut fronds represent the support and bond between women, all within the setting of a tropical playground.

Sri Louise swimwear is designed for adult and teenage women who are passionate about the outdoors and their surroundings, whether they seek adventure, fun, or pure relaxation. In many regions of Australia, swimwear is a staple component of any wardrobe, and Sri Louise accommodates customers who are seeking garments that are distinctive, fashionable, comfortable, and durable.

The unique imagery and story behind each fabric print is central to the individuality of the Sri Louise brand. The stories allow customers to connect with and relate to the product, whether they are local to the Tropical North Queensland area or from afar. The rapid trend in wellbeing and spending time in the natural world is served both by the functionality of the garments, as well as the images and stories associated with prints.

What is Batik?

Batik is a process which originated in Indonesia. Today most Batik fabric is still made there, just like the unique fabrics used for Sri's stunning shirts. Batiks are made of both cotton and rayon base cloth. It is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique. Batik is made either by drawing dots and lines of the resist with a spouted tool called a canting, or by printing the resist with a copper stamp called a cap. Sri hand picks the beautifully designed fabrics that are traditionally made in Kuta & as there are only a limited number of each design, if you love one, don't hesitate!
